Electro-Mechanical Actuation System Engineer (m/f/d)
(full-time, starting as soon as possible, permanent contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a passionate Electro-Mechanical Actuation System Engineer to join our young and growing team. As an Electro-Mechanical Actuation System Engineer you work on the requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, and V&V of the electro-mechanical actuation system down to its components such as electro-mechanical actuators (EMAs), actuator control electronics (ACEs), positions sensors, and others. The general work is ranging from requirements management, development to implementation and testing for our vehicles. The final goal of all your activities is creating airworthiness of our product. Shape the future of aerial mobility with us by developing our electro-mechanical actuation system in coordination with regulatory partners and suppliers.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design electromagnetic actuation (EMA) system architectures
  • Create and validate actuation equipment requirements according to valid airworthiness standards
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables till certification maturity
  • Develop and prepare tests and test setups for actuation subsystem
  • Cooperate closely with other departments, such as avionics, aerodynamics, structure, and energy distribution
  • Identify and contact possible suppliers and evaluate their capabilities
  • Manage our suppliers and support them during our tight collaboration
  • Be part of our flight-testing campaigns and see your developments fly
  • Continuously challenge and improve the technical concepts, tools, and methods

YOUR PROFILE

you should …
  • Hold a master degree in mechanical/mechatronic/electrical/electronic engineering or a related field
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant experience in the area of your responsibilities described above
  • Have knowledge in EMA-based airborne systems (incl. EMA motors, control units, position sensing, …)
  • Have understanding of safety-critical development processes and functional safety
  • Bring experience with requirements management tools
  • Have a high level of self-management with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomous target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills
  • Have excellent problem solving, communication, and technical writing skills

  • Have hands-on experience in aerospace development (ARP4754A)
  • Have experience with equipment qualification (DO160)
  • Bring basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and guidance material and industry standards
