JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a passionate Energy Storage System Engineer with a strong aviation background to join our growing team and support us developing the high-voltage electrical energy storage system (EESS) for our manned eVTOL. As an Energy Storage System Engineer, you own the requirements, architecture, interfaces of the EESS which includes the battery cells, the Battery Management Unit, the Thermal Management Unit, the Charging Interfaces, and the Power Electronics. By this, you create the requirements, check whether all relevant areas covered by the requirements, validate them, and maintain their traceability. You work on an airworthy system architecture to fulfill the requirements in aviation and cooperate closely with our safety team to challenge your developments with them. As the hands-on component in your work, you support the integration of your developed EESS into our eVTOL. Shape the future of aerial mobility with us by developing our EESS in coordination with colleagues, suppliers, and the authorities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and plan the development of our electric energy storage system according to aviation standards like the ARP4754A and according to our certification plan
  • Create and validate requirements on system and equipment level according to comply with certification, customer, aircraft, and safety requirements and to fulfill the required system functions
  • Design airworthy architectures for the energy storage system
  • Cooperate closely with other system development teams regarding design, interfaces, and control
  • Cooperate closely with our safety team and challenge your developments with them
  • Coordinate with possible suppliers, prepare and manage Statement of Work documents
  • Continuously challenge and improve the technical concepts, tools, and methods
  • Be part of our flight-testing campaigns and see your developments fly

YOUR PROFILE

you should …
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant experience in the area of your responsibilities described above and preferably in the aviation industry
  • Have experience in aerospace development (ARP4754A), a clear understanding of safety-critical development processes, and experience in handling certification requirements
  • Bring basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and guidance material and industry standards for eVTOL development
  • Bring experience with requirements management tools
